Numerical Simulation of Vortex-Induced Vibration of TTR and SCR

Top tensioned risers (TTRs) and steel catenary (SCRs) have been widely used in the field of marine engineering. They are commonly to transport fluids from subsea wells surface platforms. Under action ocean currents, these often subjected vortex-induced vibrations (VIVs), which might lead serious fatigue damage. In this study, VIV around TTR SCR were numerically simulated using computational fluid dynamics software FLUENT when Reynolds number was 4000. calculations, full hexahedron grid large eddy simulation ensure calculation accuracy boundary conditions, as well solution control. The shape, frequency, amplitude produced by TTRs SCRs at different times depths simulated.
